A picture of a great looking wheat field in the countryside. The stand is very consistent in both population and uniformity across the field (wheat fields are only crop that has enough canopy at this point to get a good image). After more than 3" of rain, the waterlogged soils started to take it's toll on some of the drainage ditches. I wanted to start learning about the new Drone Deploy software and I'll show you what I learned.


From the air, you can see that the length ways ditches are full of water across this 100 acres of ground and in some areas there are high spots in the ditches that may need a channel cut into the bottom for them to flow. Is there a way to quantify the area affected by these heavy rainfall totals?
In the picture, I have circled 10 acres which is the grid size of the flight plan chosen. This field is very uniform across the field except for the ditches in the field. There are a few things a person can learn from this photo.

#1 - High spots in the which could be dirt that was pulled into the terrace by a digger or a planter track disrupting the grade.



#2 Show the high spot in the field and how it correlates with the LIVE IMAGE.

 #3 - Using the sliding bars to quantify the good or bad areas. This is a good tool to figure out the number of acres that are either healthy or stressed. It also really visually emphasizes the stressed areas for better viewing. In this scenario, about .4 acres of the 10 acres are water stressed. Tailor it to view the way you like.

#4 - What is this distinct line going across the headland in image #4? It is the guess row that has been double seeded on the headland.  




#5 - Using the "Distance" tool lets you measure distances within the map. In this case when trying to cross reference what i see with what the tool is telling me, it shows this line is 57.91 feet from the edge of the field. This customer has a 60 ft air seeder which checks out. This is an elementary example but it shows some of the capabilities this program has.
