Week 5 Submission - Mark Salvador
Mark Salvador

The purpose of the two pictures was to compare the detail of
the drone images, versus the latest Granular Insights satellite photo.
Working with one of my Strategic Accounts, Eric Tieszen, here’s a few customer
feedback take-aways: (in the context of weed management)…
- Really cool technology!
- Advantage of satellite
is how quickly it gathers data at the cursory level.
- Advantage of drone is
level of detail and at least the possibility of moving TIF files into
another data management platform (SMS or APEX as examples), so we can
react to what we see.
- In the end, Eric said
the satellite imagery is good enough for them because they’re managing
weeds with a 120’ boom. However, as we tighten it up, managing down
to individual plants, the drone data will increase in value.
- There is value in using
the drone to fly out and get a closer look at something detected by
satellite.
I’ve been asked to go out to his farm next week to fly a
couple alfalfa fields, next week, to see what we can do with the data! My
own general observation is that customers are very interested in what we’re
doing and appreciative of the time and attention.
